Will Mobil 1 synthetic ATF work in a 2008 GMC Canyon 3.7 Auto 4x4 Z71 Transmission AND Transfer Case? I basically want to run Mobil 1 throughout the whole truck. You did it right. The Dana 300 takes a GL5 rated gear oil, same as the diffs. No additives needed. The transmission however takes a GL4 rated gear oil or synchromesh fluid. A gl5 rated oil has too much sulfur in it which affects the synchromesh parts.The fill is a 10mm and the drain is an 8mm. Remove the fill first and then the drain. Drain fluid and the install the drain plug. With the drain plug installed and torqued to 26fltlbs now you can pump your fluid in. Use the ELSD fluid for the rear. The rear takes 1.4 quarts.The manual does not specify or list different transfer cases either, which is odd. It just says to use the ATF+4. I remembered one time one my 93 Dakota 4x4, with the NP231 tcase, it called for ATF+3, Type 7176. If you dont plan on doing that, the stock fluid in there is fine.....
