Limp mode causes. Many things can cause limp mode, such as: Transmission faults - when the gearbox can't switch between gears properly. Malfunctioning sensors - incorrect information is sent to the ECU. Bad wiring - issues in the wiring loom can cause erratic behaviour detected by the ECU. We have three Can Am's: 06 Rally, 07 400 Max XT and a 08 800 Max XT. All have been good machines with the exception of the 800 (it is a good machine with minor problems). I have been having heating issues and limp mode issues.

Nov 12, 2017 · All of a sudden I looked down and the engine light is on and it is in limp mode. I stopped check oil, air filter, wiring etc. and everything seems fine. If you have a brake limp mode when it's in limp check to see if the brake lights are stuck on . You typically get the brake limp mode when driving with two feet . If you Throttle and touch brake pedal any at all it puts it in limp mode . He took it to the dealer and they check the machine out and found nothing. Go through all the electrical connections and clean them and apply die electric grease to them. Might help. Did it to mine after I had limp home codes while back.Man am I relieved. Take a 4' garden hose and plug it over the flush fitting beside the pump. Route the other end over the rear of the ski into the footwell. Your foot will tell you how hot the water out is.

The sensor may have been going out causing the light and limp issue. I would move the gauge confirm oil pressure if it has oil pressure replace the sensor and run it for a while. See what the light does .
