Fj40 brake booster
fj40 brake issues. Postby 2.f » Fri Jan 13, 2012 6:35 am. my old fj40 brake booster and master where buggered,so i replaced the system with a 2nd hand fj40 booster and 1994 hilux master clyinder,the brakes where really hard and the truck would hardly stop,so today in replaced the booster with a 1994 hilux one and now the pedal is soft.I run a 3rd gen 4runner booster out of the junk yard. It is a bit larger diameter and covers one of the mounting bolts for the clutch slave - but it works great. I have disc brakes all around. I believe a booster is a booster. It is the brake master where things get to be important with regards to disc brakes and propotioning valves.
