Fuse alternator
I started installing my new alternator wiring kit today, and I have a question about fuse sizing. My kit (American Autowire #510746) came with two Megafuses, both rated at 175 amps. It seems appropriate to use one on the alternator feed, but the second one is, as per the instructions, for the main fuse panel feed, which is a 10 gauge wire.To find the fuse, reference your owner’s manual for the right fuse locations (typically, it’s numbered). If your alternator is putting out more than 30 amps there is something wrong. Could be a bad ground, short, bad alternator regulator, or bad battery.
