The touch screen interface is so intuitive and far above the competition, I didn't even open the manual once. And for those of us who are into guitar as well, high gain sims are awesome.Pod Go is so much better for this. Stomp is really built to be more of an add-on to a pedal setup (or the basis around which a pedal setup is built). There's the Stomp XL, but then you're in Helix LT territory price-wise. I would highly recommend the Pod Go for your use case, since you'll be using it as a standalone.I've been considering getting a multi-effects unit recently, and I've narrowed my choice down to 2 options. One difference I just realized is that the PS that comes with XL is 3 amps, whereas the one that comes with Stomp is only 1 amp. Considering that they both draw ~900-950 amps, probably can't hook anything else up to the Stomp PS. But the XL PS has plenty of power available to daisy chain together.
Look at any cheaper units like Ampero Stomp 2, Headrush stuff etc and it's the same deal. Even Eventide's new H90 follows the same pattern. ... It's amazing line 6 ...Quality of the effects is better in the NUX too, despite fewer features, effects and amp models. Also the fact that the MG-30 uses standard 9V power supply is a big plus too. The only thing I would like on the MG-30 that the MX-5 has is the stereo FX loop. I have had my eye on getting some kind of amp modeling/multi effects pedal for a while ...Well, I might still use my Helix Stomp for live performance (where it becomes more difficult to distinguish differences, and where the Stomp provides good effects in the same box). But for me, for studio recording, Tonex has completely replaced Helix and HX Native for amp and cab modeling.HX stomp can only send PC when changing a preset. It's really designed to receive midi. You can already do a lot with the 3 stomp buttons + 2 external switches/expression inputs. HX effects is the other way round, you can configure what midi commands are sent (but it does not have amp models). Don't know what the gigboard can do.
