Jun 22, 2012. #9. It has always been my understanding that an e range tire inflated to the same psi that a c range tires inflated to would cause both tires to have the same load rating. Its only when you add the extra psi to the e range tires that you're allowed to do you end up with the higher load rating.Before I start I know the differences in load range and ive read every tacoma world post that google returns about the load ranges, even for the tire im looking at. But I have not seen anyone talk about ride comfort between SL and C rated. I'm looking at the Cooper AT3-LT and AT3-4S (on my 2017 off road model) ...The load range speaks more to well, load rating and capacity. While plausible, it may or may not lead to appreciably more puncture resistance. The major factor to more puncture resistance will be the tire type and model alone. KO2s that is, should prove to be much more puncture resistant than the OEM tire.

E's can be pumped up to 80psi when towing & that makes one heck of a difference. 285/75-16 & bigger sizes have a higher weight capacity in a "D" designated tire. Size does matter! The ONLY reason I'd run 265/75-16 D's is if I had a gasser motor & or never pulled a trailer. The C rated 265 certainly had more sidewall flex on larger rocks when aired down to ~20lbs. The E rated at 20lbs don't move much at all.I just removed a set of Load Range C MTR's and mistakenly installed a set of E range in the new BFG All Terrains. I'll trade anyone straight across for another set of C's in the same tire and I'll pay for the mount, balance, and give them a discount of a hefty nature on a brake kit. The E's suck donkey balls.
