I am doing a TBI to Carb swap on a 92 chevy 350. I found a carb intake for the engine that fits. I know that the engines from 74 - 86 is different from the 87-95. Will a HEI distributor from the 74-86 fit my 92? I know I will have to change the gear on it to fit the cam, but is the shaft long enough to connect with the oil pump rod?TBI to Carburetor Swap? Two mechanical cables to the throttle bell crank would be the foot feed cable that moves the throttle and the modulator cable to the transmission. That would indicate that the tranny is 700R4/4L60. That makes switching the TBI to carb a lot simpler. Farmington MN. Apr 1, 2022. #2. Can just re drill and tap your TBI manifold to the 2 bbl bolt pattern. While you are at it you can easily go to a 4 bbl with the Mr Gasket carb adapter. Then you will have the advantage of the secondaries and can still run on the 2 bbls if you keep your foot out of it. Advanceautoparts has them too. 2.Then change the fuel pump out for something meant to give the 2-3 psi you will need at the carb. The original fuel pump should be pumping close to 22psi, way too much. It willl just flood the carb till gas comes out of your air filter in about 6 seconds. OK so sounds great, but there are issues with this plan.May 1, 2016 · Replace the TBI with a carb and try it before ditching the electronics. Leave everything plugged in the harness to satisfy the computer. Mount a TPS to the carb, a fuel pressure regulator and give it a try.
