Nov 15, 2022 · Today, I am doing the next step in the Uncle Ben's Tek. In this step, we wait until the rice is 20%-30% colonized and break and shake the mycelium. Although, with these rice bags, it's more like a squish and mix. Yup, so For each large freezer ziploc bag I dumped 2 bags of broken up uncle bens in, squirted in about 1.3 cc’s of LC in each then zipped all of them closed. All work was done inside a sab following regular sterile technique. I did NOT open the bags prior to being in the sab as they come sterilized inside.

I'm going to try Uncle Ben's tek for the first time and have been doing a ton of research. I've heard many people say that Uncle Ben's rice may have too much moisture. Before uncle ben’s tek, achieving this step was the hardest part as the mycelium is weaker than most bacteria and molds during the growth period.
