From what I have read 200 f is on the edge of starting damage to trans . I'm at 252k and need to change trans fluid again, I did add the after market pan so I can change 4-5 quarts at a time going thru 20 quarts over a few weeks . I did put a temp gauge on my cooler -the ac type and I watch in in hot weather but I have to open hood to look at it .My transmission is overheating when I drive around town or stopping and going on the highway. When I get up to speed (65+ MPH) it seems to maintain regular operating temp. I've replaced the fluid and external transmission fluid filter. The trans cooler seems to be in good condition. The truck is not throwing me any codes and does not slip gear ...
